10 Games That Should
Make The Wii Have A Decent Year
Okay so it's no mystery
that the Wii's 2011 release schedule is a little on the light side at
this point in time, but that doesn't mean that there aren't some good
games planned for the rest of the year.
10. Conduit 2
Okay this is one of those real Marmite games for the Wii, you either loved the first one for what it was or hated it for what it never was, High Voltage Software is promising much for this squeal, so it may end up being similar to the first with it's equal love/hate reception.
9. The Grinder
Another FPS for the Wii from High Voltage Software and if anything it's release is pretty dependant right now on the success of Conduit 2, if you haven't seen much of The Grinder it is in many ways like the Wii's answer to Left 4 Dead, offering both online and split screen co-op, both feature that have been since implemented into Conduit 2.
8. de Blob 2
At the time of writing this game is just being released, although no longer a Wii exclusive series THQ has set out to expand on the original in pretty much every way.
7. Kirby's Star(Working Title)
Unlike Epic Yarn which never started out life as a proper Kirby game this is a Kirby game in the more traditional sense after the short teaser trailer that was released it should be along similar lines to previous Kirby games, which is by no means a bad thing.
6. Night of the Sacrifice
A survival horror game that seems very cerebral although little is know about the game as a whole, other than it supports use of the Wii Balance Board and will use the Wii-motes infra-red sensor as a flash light as well as having a cell shaded look for the characters, certainly one to look out for.
5. Rodea: The Sky Soldier
From the creator of Sonic Yuji Naka comes a new flight/on rail shooter in a similar look to the Night's games very promising looking but little is known other than a 2011 release. This game has also been announced as a 3DS game so it should show just how close the two pieces of hardware will be to each other.
4. Dragon Quest X
Okay admittedly no one even knows how far this game is into development or when it will be even shown for the first time but I can hope can't I?
3. Xenoblade
Not official ever been announced to be released outside of Japan, but from the reviews that it has received in it's homeland it is a very good game indeed, looking amazing too so hope is still there this game gets an English translation this year.
2. The Last Story
Yet again a game much like Xenoblade has yet to receive any official announcement of an English translation, The Last Story is from the mind of the creator of the Final Fantasy series, and has hinted this is his last game, hence it's his last story, much like the first Final Fantasy was potentially that for Square as if it failed it would have been their last game. Developed by Mistwalker this game also feature online 6 player co-op and has been highly rated in Japan much like Xenoblade even selling very well in it's first week.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Skward Sword
Do I really need to say why this game should make the whole year worth it? Really?
It's Zelda and if it's like any previous game(not counting those horrid CD-i games) it is going to be good, epic, amazing, awesome..... I am pretty sure you get what I mean.

I will admit I have actually padded this out with games that are either not even confirmed to come out this year outside of Japan, have no release date at all and mainly just wishful thinking, in all honesty after the year the Wii had last year it was going to be hard to match, but with Nintendo's typical strategy of switching focus to the launch of a new handheld system the home console will more than likely lose some focus, nothing new from Nintendo, and more than likely means that a new Nintendo console may be jut around the corner.
Although at this point this could al change as the year goes on as we don't know what E3 will hold for the Wii, hopefully one or two of those often rumour Wii games such as Pikmin 3.
